Parent/Guardian Information & Volunteer Form
One form per family, completed each year at registration. If another parent or guardian in your household has already submitted this year, you don’t need to.
Cub Scouting runs on volunteers, and every family plays a part. This form gives us your contact information and helps us match you with a role that fits your time and talents.
Each family is asked to complete at least 2 hours of volunteer service during the year. Signing up for and completing any role meets this requirement. If you’re unable to volunteer, you can choose the $150 Volunteer Opt-Out instead.
Selecting a role isn’t a commitment yet. Once we’ve heard from enough families, a pack leader will reach out to match roles. Already turned in a paper form? You’re all set.
What Each Role Does (tap to expand)
Committee Leadership
- Advancement Chair: Runs the Needs Purchasing report from Scoutbook before each pack meeting and places the badge order with the Scout Shop. The single highest-impact open role in the pack. A few hours before each pack meeting.
- Membership Chair: Welcomes new families, coordinates registration paperwork, and helps with recruiting follow-up after events like Kickoff and National Night Out. Great fit for someone who’s organized and likes being a friendly first contact for new scouts.
- Secretary: Takes minutes at monthly committee meetings and helps keep agendas and records organized. About one evening a month, plus a little follow-up.
- Activities/Events Chair: Helps coordinate logistics for Blue and Gold and pack service projects: venue, headcounts, and supplies. Works closely with the Committee Chair.
Event Helpers
- Pinewood Derby Workshop Helper: Assists families building their cars before race day.
- Pinewood Derby Set-Up: Helps set up the track the evening before race day.
- Pinewood Derby Check-In: Checks in cars and racers the morning of Pinewood Derby.
- Scouting for Food Assistant: Helps coordinate our January food drive. One weekend dropping door hangers, one weekend collecting food.
- End-of-Year Cookout Grubmaster: Plans food for our spring cookout at Squirrel Lake Park.
- End-of-Year Campout Grubmaster: Plans meals for our final campout of the year.
- Pack Meeting Special Speaker: A one-time visit to share your job, hobby, or skill with the scouts. Perfect if you don’t have time for an ongoing role but have something fun to share.
Ongoing Support
- Medical Form Coordinator: Collects and securely holds each family’s health form at fall onboarding, and confirms coverage before overnight events.
- SignUpGenius Coordinator: Builds and manages online sign-ups for pack events throughout the year.
- Social Media Assistant: Helps keep the Pack 214 Facebook page updated with photos and event reminders. Must be a registered adult leader.
- Troop 39/139 Liaison: Helps coordinate AOL crossover visits and communication with our partner Scouts BSA troops.
- Camp Card Coordinator: Manages the spring Camp Card fundraiser, distributing cards to families and tracking what’s sold and returned.
- Popcorn Co-Lead: Helps manage the fall popcorn campaign: scheduling storefront shifts, tracking sales in the Trail’s End app, and answering family questions. A second Kernel keeps the campaign running smoothly from year to year.

Send $150 via Zelle to [email protected] with the memo “[Scout name] Volunteer Opt-Out.” Please send this separately from pack dues so we can credit it correctly. Cash or check is also accepted at any pack meeting.
Safeguarding Youth Training
Pack 214 requires Safeguarding Youth Training for every adult participating in pack activities, including volunteer roles. It takes about 90 minutes the first time and about 20 minutes to renew each year. If you aren’t a registered leader, forward your completion certificate to [email protected].
