Let’s Go Camping!

Use this checklist before any Pack 214 overnight — Cub O’Ree, a Webelos/AOL campout, or the Super Trip. Print this page and check items off as you pack.

  • Arrive in your Class A Uniform (this is Scouting America policy)
  • Wear your Pack t-shirt after you arrive

Camping Equipment

  • Tent or tarp, poles, and stakes (if needed)
  • Waterproof ground cloth or plastic sheet
  • Sleeping bag, pillow, air mattress or pad
  • Cup, bowl, plate, knife, fork, spoon, mesh bag
  • Camp chair

Toilet Kit & First Aid Items

  • Toothpaste, toothbrush, comb
  • Washcloth, towel
  • Soap in container
  • Toilet paper
  • Extra plastic bag or container
  • Water bottle
  • Flashlight, bulb, batteries
  • Sunscreen
  • Insect repellent
  • Whistle
  • Safety pins

Clothes Bag

  • Cub Scout uniform (see above)
  • Poncho or raincoat
  • Warm jacket or coat
  • Pajamas or sweatshirt, sweatpants
  • Underwear
  • Shoes suitable for hiking, shoe laces
  • Extra socks, shoes, other extra clothing
  • Gloves

Camping Rules for Youth and Adults

  • No alcoholic beverages
  • No fireworks, firearms, archery equipment, etc.
  • No pets
  • No toy weapons
  • Closed-toed shoes must be worn at all times (no sandals, flip flops, or crocs)

Adult Participation

Cub Scout parents or legal guardians taking part in an overnight Cub Scout program with their own child or legal ward are not required to register as leaders. All adults must review the “How to Protect your Children from Child Abuse: A Parent’s Guide,” found in the front of each Cub Scout Handbook. In addition, the parent or legal guardian must be accompanied by a registered leader at any time they are with youth members other than their own child/ward. All other overnight adults must be currently registered in an adult, fee-required position.
