Is Pack 214 open to girls?

Yes! Pack 214 is a coed pack welcoming both boys and girls from Kindergarten through 5th grade. Girls who complete Arrow of Light cross over to Troop 139, our sister troop also chartered by Matthews United Methodist Church.

What grades can join?

Kindergarten (Lion) through 5th grade (Arrow of Light). Scouts can join at any point during the year — you don’t have to wait for the start of the school year.

How much does it cost?

There are two parts: national Scouting America membership (paid to council) and Pack 214 dues, which cover den supplies, awards, and pack activities. See our Program Costs page for current amounts. Confidential financial aid is available for any family — just reach out to the Committee Chair.

Do parents have to volunteer?

Pack 214 runs entirely on parent volunteers, so we do ask every family to pitch in — this can be anything from helping at a single event to taking on a den leader role. Families who aren’t able to volunteer can opt out for a fee instead. There’s no pressure to take on more than fits your schedule.

What if my scout tries it and doesn’t like it?

Totally normal to want to try before committing. Come to a den meeting or our Scouting Kickoff first — there’s no obligation to register just because you visited.

When and where do meetings happen?

Den meetings are Tuesday evenings at 6:30 PM at Matthews United Methodist Church. Pack-wide meetings (all dens together) are the second Tuesday of each month at the Eagle’s Nest, at the end of the MUMC parking lot.

Do we need a uniform right away?

No — come as you are for your first meeting. Once you register, you’ll get uniform guidance, and we have a Scout Closet with gently used uniform pieces available. See our Uniforms and Scout Closet page.
