Cub O’Ree

Cub O’Ree (the district calls it Cuboree) is Pack 214’s fall family campout and our first campout of the Scouting year. The whole Pack camps together at the Etowah District’s weekend, alongside other packs from our area. Scouts try camp activities, families learn to camp together, and the weekend ends with a campfire. It’s a great first campout for new families.

Who can come

The whole family

Scouts, parents or guardians, and brothers and sisters are welcome. Everyone who comes must be at least 5 years old.

Who sleeps where

A Scout sleeps only in a tent with their own parent or legal guardian. Brothers and sisters can share that tent.

Other adults

Bringing a grandparent or another adult who isn’t a parent or guardian? They need their own tent, and Scouting America has extra requirements for them. Email [email protected] well before the weekend so we can help.

Camp rules for families

  • This isn’t a drop-off event. A parent or guardian stays with their Scout the whole weekend. If you leave camp, even for a short time, take your Scout and their brothers and sisters with you.
  • Tents are family space. Scouts don’t go into other families’ tents, and they don’t invite friends into theirs. Play happens out in the campsite.
  • Arriving late or leaving for part of Saturday is fine. Let a Pack leader know.
  • Sunday morning: plan to stay until the campsite is cleaned up. The camp may keep its gate closed until cleanup is done. If you have to leave early, talk to a Pack leader first.

What to bring

Use our camping packing list. Bring your own tent, and tell us about any food allergies ahead of time at [email protected] if you didn’t list them on the sign-up form.

Medical forms for everyone who comes

Every person at Cub O’Ree, including parents and brothers and sisters, needs a Scouting America medical form (Parts A and B) and a copy of their insurance card. Turn them in at the Pack table at any den or pack meeting before Cub O’Ree begins. If you already turned one in this year, you’re all set. Get the medical forms and instructions.
