Program Costs

Financial Aid

No child should miss out on Cub Scouting due to a lack of funds. Families may request confidential financial assistance for pack fees, uniform costs, and more by contacting Committee Chair Andrew McDermott ([email protected]). All inquiries and awards are kept confidential.

2026-27 Total Registration and Dues

Scouting America Membership: $154.50

This registration fee goes directly to Scouting America and Mecklenburg County Council. Each scout’s membership is good for one calendar year. You’ll receive an email to renew 30 days prior to your expiration date. AOL scouts due for renewal in the spring should not renew online — they’ll be registered by their troop instead.

Scout Life Magazine Subscription Add-on: $15.00 (yearly subscription, added during renewal, optional)

Pack 214 Dues: $75.00

This is the only money our pack collects directly, outside of fundraising, to run our Cub Scout program. This fee offsets the cost of den meeting supplies and scout awards.

Your first year’s dues also include a Pack T-shirt.

Activity Fees

These are optional trips and events beyond weekly den meetings and monthly pack meetings — no scout is required to attend to be part of the pack. Fees are tied directly to the added cost of each event.

Cub O’Ree (Family Camping Weekend): $15 per person
October 23-25, 2026 / Sign-up deadline: TBD. See our Cub O’Ree page for full details.

Super Trip (Family Overnight): Riverbanks Zoo & Garden, ~$90 per person
Saturday, March 13, 2027 / Sign-up deadline: TBD

Fundraising

Fundraising allows the pack to limit out-of-pocket costs for families by offsetting program and training costs, and lets scouts earn credit toward their individual fees.

Popcorn: all dens are expected to sell popcorn except Lions (though Lions are welcome to participate if they choose). Each scout is asked to work 2 Show & Sell shifts this year; there’s no dollar sales minimum, but our per-scout goal is $600 and our pack-wide goal is $30,000. Scout account credit starts building on a scout’s 3rd shift and/or wagon sales beyond the two required. Visit our Popcorn page to learn more.

Camp Cards: an optional fundraiser each spring where Mecklenburg County Council offers discount cards for sale. Camp Cards help scouts earn their way to camp — cards sell for $10, and scouts get a $4 credit for each one, toward future registration, dues, or activity fees.
