Create Your Trails-End Account and Sign Up for a Shift!


PREPARE FOR THE SALE:

  • Sign Up for available Storefront shifts via the Trail’s End app
  • Be prepared – know your products and what you are going to say
  • Practice your sales pitch 
    • “Would you like to support our Pack/Scouts?”
    • The money helps pay for camping trips and other scouting activities like Cub O’ree, our end-of-year campout, and keep out-of-pocket expenses to a minimum.
    • 73% of every dollar comes back to local scouting. Half of that stays with our Pack. 
  • Pack water, snacks, sunscreen & a hat if outside.
  • Charge devices to be used during the sale (cell phone, square reader, etc)
  • First shift for Saturday mornings needs to pick up the product the previous Tuesday and set up. There are 2 morning shifts for each location so between the 2 scout/adult combos – grab the product and setup and arrive a few minutes early. 

GENERAL STOREFRONT GUIDELINES:

  • Arrive 5-10 minutes before the start of your sales shift. This will allow the previous shift to answer any questions you may have and help you get set up before they leave. You should never leave a site until someone relieves you and takes responsibility for the money and product. 
  • Scouts should be in Class A uniform and stand in front of the table
  • Credit cards are preferred, but cash is accepted as well
  • No checks
  • Record all sales through Trail’s End App 
  • Using Trails End App
    • log into the Trails End App. 
    • Use instructions provided to pair bluetooth reader
    • Select storefront from the bottom right hand corner (May also need to select storefront location)
    • Choose product and checkout. 
  • No running, screaming, or playing in or around store
  • Adults may bring a chair for themselves; Scouts should not sit during the sale.

SELLING TIPS:

  • Maintain eye contact – be confident
  • Speak loudly and clearly
  • Always be polite and courteous
  • Thank everyone – even the people who do not buy anything
  • Scouts should ask each person that enters/leaves the store

SHOW AND SELL OVERVIEW

  • Setup and takedown should be overseen by adults but all Scouts must participate in checking inventory, table setup, and cleanup
  • First Shift: Make arrangements with Popcorn Kernel to pick up supplies and inventory.
  • Last Shift: Return inventory and supplies to Popcorn Kernel (or make arrangements)

FIRST SHIFT: Set Up

  • Arrive at store/site at least 15 minutes before sales are to start
  • Check notes for Storefront Location in Trails End App. This will give you a location for setup and any other directions. It is not necessary to check with the store manager unless it is mentioned in the notes.
  • Set up the table in a location the store/site has designated for you (Check Trails End App for Notes)
  • Display products neatly on the table.
  • Keep area neat and clean
  • Do not block entrance or exit.

SHIFT CHANGE

  • Inventory and money must be counted by an outgoing adult and an incoming adult. Confirm and both sign off on accuracy.

LAST SHIFT: Take Down

  • Pack up neatly as all had been initially before sales start
  • Keep money in cash bag; do not count money in view of passersby
  • Clean area: Collect all trash and take home (do not load tons of trash in retailers trash bin)
  • Return popcorn to the original box. Do not mix different flavors in the same box!
  • Make arrangements to return to Popcorn Kernel
