The Cub Scout Motto: Do Your Best!

CUBBY NOTES

January 10, 2023

Pack Meeting:
Eagle's Nest at 6:30 pm.

CUBMASTER NOTES

Tonight we have a Pack Meeting inside the Eagle's Nest at 6:30 pm. Lions will meet tonight.

Carolina Raptor Center

As I mentioned at our Pack Meeting last week, as a reward for blowing our popcorn sales goal out of the water, we will be rewarding the Pack with a trip to the Carolina Raptor Center. The trip will be on January 21st at 10 am. Families and siblings are welcome and encouraged to attend. There are spots to have lunch afterwards if you want to bring lunch with you and there are hiking trails and a nature center for you to explore on your own or as dens. Please use this sign up genius so we know how many to expect. There is no charge to you for admission to the Raptor Center. Please sign up HERE.

SCOUT SUNDAY
Scout Sunday will be during the 11:00 worship service at the church on 1/22. This is a chance for us to thank the church for their support and to highlight some of our recent accomplishments. Scouts, parents, and leaders are invited to show up in their class A uniforms around 10:30 that morning. However, “a Scout is Reverent” so we ask that Cubs leave their uniform caps at home. We will congregate in the long administrative hallway (closest to Trade Street). We’ll be joined by Troops 39 & 139 and three Girl Scout Troops affiliated with the church. Together, we’ll line up by Scout units and then process into the Sanctuary during the opening hymn of the 11:00 service. Scouts, leaders, and families will have a set of pews set reserved to sit together.

Cubs who are interested can volunteer to be greeters. This means they will stand at the Sanctuary doors in pairs greeting people and handing out bulletins prior to the service. They can receive volunteer service credit for this. I’ve streamlined the process so no one from the Pack needs to attend the rehearsal on Saturday 1/21. I hope more Cubs and families will be able to attend this year. This is a fun morning to celebrate Scouting across our three units and to share with the congregation some of what we’ve been doing. Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks for your help with this!

Yours in Scouting,
David Wheeler

PINEWOOD DERBY

The Pinewood Derby race is coming up on February 25. Each scout gets a derby car kit and additional kits can be purchased for family members for $5 each.

Interested in helping with Pinewood Derby?
If you'd like to learn for a few years how to run pinewood derby and take over from Dr. Russel, we'd love to hear from you. It takes a few derbys to get it all down. Please speak to Mr. Femenella or Dr Russel if you're interested.

We will also need volunteers on race day (the morning of 2/25) as well as helpers on Friday evening 2/24 to help set up the track. Both opportunities are an easy way to help out the pack and it's very much appreciated.
