The Cub Scout Motto: Do Your Best! CUBBY NOTES   May 9, 2023   PACK MEETINGS Eagle's Nest at 6:30 pm (Den Advancement Ceremony – All Dens Meet) CUBMASTER NOTES Our last Pack Meeting is tonight inside the Eagle's Nest at 6:30 pm. This is a very special meeting where we honor our scouts with a Den Advancement Ceremony where they officially advance to the next den rank. The ceremony will include taking off their current den rank neckerchief and slide and putting on the set for their new den rank. Scout Closet As we prepare for next year, please check out our Scout Closet for uniforms, hats, slides, and handkerchiefs. These are available on a first come, first serve basis because other scout families have donated these items. Please consider donating outgrown uniforms and past den accessories to the Scout Closet for others to use.  In this week's Cubby Notes: Year End Cookout at Squirrel Lake Park: May 16 – Please sign up to bring a food item. Year End Campout: June 2 & 3. Please sign up below. Scout Day Camp Payment Due Tonight! Memorial Day Scouting opportunity: See below. Summer Activities in Scouting.   SUMMER DAY CAMP OPPORTUNITY PAYMENT DUE TONIGHT! 1. Cost is $175. 2. Runs June 19th to the 23rd from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm each day out at Belk Scout Camp (about 20 minutes east of Matthews). This is a great event that past cubs have loved attending. All Cub Scouts currently in the Pack are eligible to attend. Please sign up with your Committee Chair. To confirm attendance we are asking payment in full ($175) by May 9th (our last Pack Meeting) for each scout you will be sending. Please contact Mike Hillesheim with any questions at [email protected].   PARENT/GUARDIAN SURVEY We are gathering feedback for our 2023/2024 Scout year. Please take a few minutes to fill out our survey: CLICK HERE. Thank you!   YOUTH PROTECTION TRAINING As many of you know, Youth Protection Training is REQUIRED in order for any adult to participate in an overnight scouting event.  If you have already completed your training, please either email a copy of your certificate or bring in a copy so that the pack can have it on file. Each certification is good for 2 years. We are also keeping track of expiration dates so that we can remind you when you need to retake the training. If you have not completed the certification, please do so if you would like to participate in the end of year campout.  ADULTS will not be allowed to attend any overnight events if they do not have a YPT certificate on file with the pack. Click HERE for YPT. Thank You!   END OF YEAR COOKOUT Please join us for our End of Year Cookout at Squirrel Lake Park on Tuesday, May 16th at 6:30 pm at Shelter B. This is a fun event to celebrate all of our scouts and Pack 214 families.  Hamburgers and hotdogs will be provided but we are asking families to bring the following: Tigers and Wolves: Side Dish Bears: Chips Webelos: Dessert PLEASE be considerate of PACK ALLERGIES: No nuts, no shellfish, no mango! Sign up Here!   END OF YEAR CAMPOUT We are having our overnight Year End Campout at Cane Creek Campground. FRIDAY NIGHT June 2nd, Friday night is for rising Webelos and AOLs ONLY! Only scouts and guardians for this night (no siblings). Arrival time is between 5:00 – 6:00pm (please eat dinner beforehand). The pack will provide a campfire snack Friday night and both breakfast and lunch on Saturday. SATURDAY NIGHT June 3rd, Saturday night is for ALL SCOUTS and all family members. Webelos and AOLs get the chance to camp for two nights or they can just come for Saturday night. Arrival time is between 1:00-2:00 pm (please eat lunch beforehand). The pack will provide dinner that evening and breakfast on Sunday morning. SUNDAY MORNING We will break camp between 9-10 on Sunday morning after breakfast but you will continue to have access to the camp grounds and amenities until the end of the day.  Please sign up HERE!   MEMORIAL DAY Scouting's Mecklenburg County Council is providing an opportunity for scouts to place over 6,000 flags on the graves of our nation's fallen service members on May 27th.  This is great way to honor those that fought for our country.
