The Cub Scout Motto: Do Your Best!

CUBBY NOTES

January 6, 2026

Den Meeting
Tuesday, January 6th
6:30 at MUMC

Cubmaster Notes:

Welcome back from Winter break! See everyone tonight for Den meetings.

The scouting year is starting to get exciting – we have Scouting for Food, a trip to Discovery Place, and Pinewood Derby in the next month.

We are always looking for volunteers to help make our Pack great for the scouts and their families. We’re starting to recruit for a couple of positions for next year, including Treasurer, Committee Chair and Assistant Cubmaster. Please see Heath or Chris for details or if interested.

PACK OUTING:
SATURDAY, JAN 17th

Pack 214 families, we’re excited to announce our annual Pack Outing, and this year we’ll be heading to Discovery Place Science in Charlotte on January 17, 2026 for a day of hands-on exploration and adventure! This is one of our favorite opportunities each year for Scouts and families to learn, have fun, and enjoy time together as a Pack. To help us plan tickets and logistics, please take a moment to RSVP using the SignUpGenius link. The Pack pays for tickets for Scouts and families, and we need an accurate final headcount by January 10th, 2026.

We will be meeting by the main entrance at 9:45am to coordinate our 10am entry into the museum. Please wear your Class B uniforms so we can show our Pack pride while we explore the museum! Lunch will not be provided. Families can leave the museum at whatever times work best for schedules. Parking in the connected garage will be discounted – so bring in your tickets for validation. Parents are strongly encouraged to remain with their Scouts.

We can’t wait to see everyone there for an unforgettable day of discovery!

Scouting For Food –
January 31st and February 6th

Mark your calendars!

Scouting for Food is our annual food-collection drive that supports families in need within our community while giving Scouts the opportunity to practice and live out the Scout Oath and Law—especially the ideal to “help other people at all times.”

We strive for 100% pack participation in this important service project, so please join us if you are able.

Saturday, January 31
We will meet at 9:00 a.m. in the MUMC parking lot in front of the Eagle’s Nest. Families will receive neighborhood maps and door hangers for preassigned routes.

Donuts, coffee, and milk/juice will be provided.

Upon arrival, our Scouting for Food Chairperson will give you your route map and door hangers to distribute that morning. There is no need to knock on doors or speak with residents—simply hang the flyer and move on. You do not need to return to MUMC after distributing the door hangers.

Saturday, February 7 (after 9:00 a.m.)
Return to the same neighborhood to collect the donated food. Once collected, please drive back to the MUMC parking lot to unload and turn in the food.

The time commitment for each day is approximately 30 minutes to 1 hour

Scout Sunday – January 25th

Scout Sunday is coming up on January 25. On this day, we represent Scouting to the church and to say thank you for their strong support over the past year. There will be some leadership positions for Scouts such as flag bearers, pledge leaders, ushering, and scripture reader. We will also be recognizing all of our Scouts who earned their Eagle in 2025, those who completed faith classes at the church, and those who earned the Medal of Merit.
Cub Scouts can serve as greeters and/or process with the pack. They don’t need to come to the rehearsal on Saturday but must be at the church by 10:30 Sunday morning. On Sunday, we will meet at 10:30 in the long hallway between the Sanctuary and the large parking lot. We will line up by units in our full class A uniforms. We will then process in during the first hymn and sit together in the pews.
Please see the sign up genius for more information.

Jared Box – Update

Check out our generous collection of Jared Boxes we delivered to Jeff Gordon Children's Center!  We brought 75 boxes to the hospital as they were having a holiday market for the kids.  Thank you for bringing holiday cheer to these families.
