The Cub Scout Motto: Do Your Best!

CUBBY NOTES

October 18, 2022

Den meetings tonight –
6:30 pm inside the MUMC Commons:

Field Trips (see below)

CUBMASTER NOTES

Tonight will be Dens Meetings inside the MUMC Commons at 6:30 pm.

Field Trip Tonight to the Pack 46 Pumpkin Patch for the following dens: Tigers & Bears.

If you have turned in your application and registration fee, your scout will (eventually) show up in our system called Scoutbook. You will or already have received an invitation from scoutbook to connect with your scout in scoutbook. This link goes to the email address you gave us when you registered. Scoutbook is important as it is where we track your scouts rank progress and where we track payments and more importantly your scout credit, if you have one, from popcorn sales.

Please pay attention to your email and spam folder and make sure you accept the invitation from scoutbook when you see it. If you've just turned in your paperwork in the last 2 weeks, it may take a bit for that to get processed and into the system.

Our focus between now and the November pack meeting is to make sure our new scouts are ready for their bobcat badge. The bobcat is the first rank all scouts earn in scouting. It signifies that they have learned the scout motto, oath and law and have a basic understanding of what they mean. Please take some time at home to have them practice the pledge, oath and law. Even better if you can talk to them about their meaning.

* The DEADLINE to pay dues and turn in paperwork is tonight. We cannot make your scout official in Scoutbook until the dues are paid.

POPCORN UPDATE

Great job everyone selling popcorn. We went past our goal for popcorn fundraising – more on how we are going to celebrate later.

We do still have popcorn available for those wanting to do wagon sales.

The popcorn will be available to pick up at tonight's meeting.

Pack 46 Pumpkin Patch

Our friends at Pack 46 are holding a pumpkin fundraiser at the Matthews Presbyterian Church on John Street.

Den Leader Notes

Lions
Lions do not meet this week. If any Lion families would like to join us (Ms. Laura and the Tigers) at Patch 46 they are welcome to attend.

Tigers
Tigers will meet at Patch 46 located at 207 W John St Matthews at our normal meeting time 6:30pm where we will pick out a pumpkin, which we will use to make a birdhouse completing  our My Tiger Jungle Requirement (HERE).

ALSO – Tiger parents, we need 1-2 of you to step forward as Tiger leader as soon as possible. Please talk to Cubmaster Mike.

Wolves
The wolves will begin working on “paws on the path”. Over several weeks, we will get comfortable with using maps, learn about navigational tools such as a compass, and build our own custom walking staves. We will eventually map out a local hiking route nearby and take an adventure to practice our skills.  If any scout families have any old hiking or street maps lying around the house, please bring to the meeting. Please also bring any navigational tools to discuss the appropriate usage.

Bears
Bears are meeting at the Pack 46 Pumpkin Patch at 6:30 then coming back to the church to work on pocket knives and carving.
SCOUT PARENTS will need to be present the entire time and they need to bring their scout's Knife

Web 1s
The Webelos will need to bring their completed physical fitness log/sheet to the den meeting in order to complete the “stronger, faster, higher” adventure. At this week’s den meeting, we will begin preparing for the “Webelos Walkabout” adventure.

AOLs
The AOLs will be meeting with Mayor John Higdon on Tuesday to discuss issues important to our local community.  Also, AOLs need to bring in their permission slip for the lockout on December 9th (Click Here!)
