The Cub Scout Motto: Do Your Best!

CUBBY NOTES

October 25, 2022

Den meetings tonight –
6:30 pm inside the MUMC Commons

CUBMASTER NOTES

Tonight will be Dens Meetings inside the MUMC Commons at 6:30 pm.

As we start moving into November it's time to remind everyone about uniforms. At this point all families should have their full scout uniform, blue shirt(or tan), neckerchief & slide, hat for our meetings. As a reminder, we do have a 'scout closet'. There are uniform items available that have been returned by families that have moved on to the troop. These uniform items are available to you at no cost. We may or may not have all the parts and pieces but it helps to defer cost. We will have the scout closet available for the next few meetings. Web I families, you have the option for a blue or tan shirt depending on your scouts growth. Just know that in their AOL year they will need a tan shirt. Plan accordingly.

Also, new families, please watch your inbox (and spam folder) for an invitation to connect with your scout in scoutbook. Scoutbook is where you can find your scouts progress record, as well as credits and debits to your scout account. Please accept that invitation when it comes through.

We need to push towards settling up for the first half of the year. If you still owe popcorn opt out ($100), dues, O'Ree fees, please turn these in to our wonderful committee chairs during any meeting. If they are not available, I can take your payments as well. Checks are payable to Pack 214, or cash (exact change please). We will be pushing to make sure everyone is at a zero balance. Please know this is my least favorite thing to do!

Finally, we are now up to 49 scouts in scoutbook! When I took over as Cubmaster in the Spring of 2021, we were in the low 20's. My goal is 50 scouts by the time my term is complete and we're almost there! Thank you for scouting with us, we hope you're having fun!

BOBCAT ACADEMY NIGHT

For all scouts new to the Pack it’s Bobcat Academy Night!

Our AOL scouts and Den Chiefs will be assisting all new scout with making sure they are ready to receive their first awarded rank.

Parents – you do have a part in this award. In order to complete their bobcat rank you must complete the exercises in How to Protect your children from child abuse : A Parent’s guide with them. This can be found in the front of every handbook or through this link.

Den Leader Notes

Lions
Lions do not meet this week.

Tigers
All Tigers will be participating in Bobcat Academy.

ALSO – Tiger parents, we need 1-2 of you to step forward as Tiger leader as soon as possible. Please talk to Cubmaster Mike.

Wolves
Wolves – please dress warm, and bring flashlights or headlamps. We will be going on a 1 mile outdoor hike to complete “paws on the path”. We will depart from the MUMC commons area following the announcements with the pack. Parents – please plan to join your wolves on the hike.

Bears
The Bears will be using pocket knives to turn bars of soap into pieces of art. Please bring your pocket knife and your parent as we complete the Bear Claws adventure and Whittling Chip requirements.  Parent must attend to use pocket knife.

Web 1s
For this week’s Weblos meeting, we will be meeting at Colonel Francis Beatty Park at 6:00 PM (NOT 6:30 at the church) to go on a 2.7 mile hike.  Please plan on getting there early if you can. The sun sets around 6:50, so we will head out as a group at 6:05 sharp!!!
We will meet up at the East Trail entrance parking lot.  You scout’s will need to bring the scouting “six essentials”.  As one of their adventure requirements, we will check that they have all of the appropriate items, with specific attention to their first aid kits and ”healthy snack” that they prepare/bring for themselves to enjoy on the hike. We’ll finish up right around 7:00 PM in the same location and parents are encouraged to attend the hike if they can.

AOLs
The AOLs will be assisting with Bobcat Academy tonight.
