The Cub Scout Motto: Do Your Best! CUBBY NOTES   June 5, 2023   Summer Events for Scouts: Information Below   END OF YEAR CAMPOUT We enjoyed our End Of Year Campout last weekend at Cane Creek Campground. What a great turnout. The EOY campout is always free for our scouting families and is a great opportunity for entire families to go camping. Mark your calendars for the first weekend in June 2024 for the next one. There will also be more camping opportunities for our families this fall. We are looking forward to that. Some pictures of EOY Campout (see more on our Pack 214 Facebook page):           PACK 214 VOLUNTEERS Pack 214 cannot run as an organization without our volunteers. Thank you everyone who continually sign up, show up, and lead by example.  We are so thankful that our Pack continues to grow and that we can provide a fun and safe environment for our kids to thrive. Matthews Alive – Part of our Pack 214 proceeds come from volunteering at the Matthews Alive Festival that runs from Sept. 1st to the 4th. We will need ADULT volunteers to cover one of the carnival-type game booths for the duration of the event (usually 2 adults in 2 hour shifts). We will post more on this later but please mark your calendars and plan on volunteering for at least one shift. Thank you!   SUMMER ACTIVITIES IN SCOUTING Below is a list of summer events for your scout within Mecklenburg County Council. Many are planned by the Council and can be found at www.mccscouting.org The highlighted events are ones Pack 214 will be attending but individual scouts can join any of these activities. We will be adding to this list as more opportunities come up, so keep checking. June 6th – Movie Night at Veterans Park in Huntersville June 19-23 – Scout Day Camp  July 9th – Cub Scout Hike at Mountain Island July 14th – Movie Night at Veterans Park in Huntersville July 20-23 – Webelos Adventure Camp July 27th – Fishing Derby at Park Road Park August 1st – National Night Out (Stumptown Park) August 19th – Bike Rodeo at Matthews UMC    PARENT/GUARDIAN SURVEY We are gathering feedback for our 2023/2024 Scout year. Please take a few minutes to fill out our survey: CLICK HERE. Thank you!   YOUTH PROTECTION TRAINING As many of you know, Youth Protection Training is REQUIRED in order for any adult to participate in any scouting event. The importance of ALL ADULTS taking this course cannot be stressed enough.  If you have already completed your training, please either email a copy of your certificate or bring in a copy so that the pack can have it on file. Each certification is good for 2 years. We are also keeping track of expiration dates so that we can remind you when you need to retake the training. ADULTS will not be allowed to attend any scouting events if they do not have a YPT certificate on file with the pack. Click HERE for YPT.
