The Cub Scout Motto: Do Your Best!

CUBBY NOTES

Sept. 13, 2022

Welcome back Returning and New families!
Pack meeting tonight (Lions included)
6:30 pm inside the Eagle's Nest.

CUBMASTER NOTES

Welcome back all new and returning Scout families. Tonight is a Pack Meeting (all Dens meet together) inside the Eagle's Nest at 6:30 pm. Lions are included. We will go over announcements, have a special guest speaker, work on a Den project, and talk about our popcorn fundraiser.

Uniforms
With everything going on, we understand the uniform may take a few meetings to get put together or you get a chance to get to the scout shop. No worries. Do your best and that's fine. We'll have our scout closet out. Our scout closet is where families can return scout shirts and uniform items to us for reuse by other families. We may not have everything but it helps. First come, first serve.

You can also visit a local Scout shop to purchase uniform pieces and the Den Handbook.

REGISTRATION

There is a lot to do at the beginning of the year including paperwork and dues. Youth Protection Training is required for all adult volunteers. Medical forms are required for all scouts and any adult and other family members that plan on participating in overnight scouting activities. All paperwork (applications, medical forms, returning family forms) and dues are due by October 4th.

Please make checks payable to Cub Scouts Pack 214.

New Scouts:
Please fill out an application (click image). Medical forms are required – see below. Dues are $165. Kindergarten age (Lion Den) pay only $75.

Returning Scouts Registration
Please fill out Returning Family form for ALL returning scout families (copies available at the meeting) and pay the $40 dues.

POPCORN FUNDRAISER

This fundraiser is great as each scout earns a portion of the sales to be applied against their scouting dues, super trip, etc. The “official” start to the selling season is 9/17, though you can get a head start with families and friends as of now.

Trail's End (The Popcorn…people) has an App that you can download to set up a user profile for you as the parent on behalf of your scout.  You can set up their profile to include a photo, quick message about their den and pack.

The benefit of having the profile setup, is that it makes it super easy for you to send an email/text to friends, family, etc via their “auto share” feature. “Auto share” lets you send a prefab message out to people that you select that are listed in your contacts on the phone.  I sent out one a few days ago to about 15 friends and family, and it resulted in over $250 of direct on-line sales, which pretty much covered the bulk of the popcorn sales goal in less than 5 minutes of activity on my part.

Please download the Trail's End app and set up your/your scout’s profile on the App sometime soon.  Use the “auto share” feature to get a jump on the selling season.

Link to Trail's End website HERE.

Here are a few detail they may ask for:
Mecklenburg County Council, Etowah district, Pack 214.  It may ask for your scout’s scouting ID number, you can grab this on the Scoutbook page (once you have set it up) by using the link below:

POPCORN SHOW & SELL

To sign up for a show and sell popcorn slot click HERE.

Please sign up only for one shift at this point to give everyone in the pack and opportunity to participate.  On Friday, we will send out a follow up email letting people know that it is OK to sign up for a second shift.

A parent is required to be there with their scout. This is not a drop off/pick up event. Please have your scout dressed in their pack uniform.

CUB O'REE CAMP OUT

October 14-16
What is Cub O'Ree? All the Etowah District Packs attend Belk Scout camp for BB Guns, Archery, Fishing, Climbing Tower, BMX, Ga Ga ball and more. It's one of our big outings for the year and a great way for your scout to practice their outdoor camping and activity skills and it's great for first time campers in a fun and safe environment.

More information about this coming soon!

Web 1s
This week we began the physical fitness focused “Stronger, Faster, Higher” adventure.   Each scout has been given a worksheet where they’ve been asked to perform three different physical fitness activities of their choosing over a 30 day period.  They are expected to perform these tasks each day and track their progress each and every day of the week.  Please help them keep to the tasks they have chosen and have them bring these sheets with them to the den meetings with them over the next month.
