The Cub Scout Motto: Do Your Best! CUBBY NOTES   February 11, 2025   Pack Meeting – Blue and Gold Eagle’s Nest 6:30 – 7:30 pm Cubmaster Notes:  Blue and Gold Ceremony this week! Bring your family and friends for fun, games and cake! Pack 214’s Blue and Gold Ceremony includes our annual cake competition, where each scout and their family can showcase their creativity by designing and decorating a unique cake. The rules for the cake competition are as follows: cakes should be homemade (by the scouts), edible, and no larger than 9×9. Cakes will be judged based on creativity, presentation, and adherence to the this year’s theme – “favorite scouting adventure”. Each scout will also have the opportunity to participate in the cake tasting. Not Getting Our Emails?  Pack Calendar Sign Up — Super Trip 2025 Sign up deadline approaching! Our Super Trip to the Kaleideum in Winston-Salem is coming up on March 22, 2025. This exciting overnight adventure is $48 per scout and $20 per adult. You can use Scoutbook money to cover the cost! Payments Due by February 25, 2025. While we're there, scouts will work on adventure achievements specific to their ranks, with time to explore the museum after hours. Here’s what each rank will focus on: Lion/Tiger: Sky is the Limit Wolf: Digging into the Past Bear: Super Science Webelos/AOL: Earth Rocks *** Though our AOLs will have already "crossed over" to the troop by then, you're still warmly encouraged to join us for this final Cub Scout event! It’s a great chance to reconnect with friends and celebrate your Scouting journey together. SIGN UP Camp Cards Camp Cards are an opportunity for our Cub Scouts to raise funds for their adventures while learning valuable skills like goal-setting and communication. Each Scout will have the chance to sell discount cards that offer deals at local businesses, with proceeds supporting their scouting activities, including camp fees. The cards sell for $10 with the proceeds split $5 for Mecklenburg County Council BSA and $5 for the individual scouts. All proceeds are credited to the Scoutbook account for use on camping trips, activities or other Pack events. You can check out as many camp cards as you like over the coming weeks and return anything that the Scouts didn't sell with no obligation. Note: AOL's can sell camp cards and funds can be transferred to younger siblings or to Troop 39 (only Troop 39).    Pinewood Derby – February 22, 2025   The Pinewood Derby race is coming up on Saturday, February 22. Each scout gets a derby car kit and additional kits can be purchased for family members for $5 each. If you have not yet grabbed your pinewood derby car kit, there will be an opportunity to pick up kits at the next several week's meetings. We'll embark on activities like hiking, fishing, archery, and much more. Explore the great outdoors, build friendships, and make significant progress towards your Webelos and AOL requirements as you discover new skills and abilities. Registration and more information to come shortly.  Annual Recharter – Instructions In February, many of you received an email from BSA reminding you that your child's membership is expiring. Several years ago, this process has been managed at the Pack level, with us collecting funds and handling renewals on your behalf. However, consistent with last year, there are some changes. These are automated system emails based on your scout's application date (ie Scouts that registered in March '24, received notices) You will now be responsible for renewing your scout's membership using the links provided in the BSA email you received.
