Scouting for Food

Scouting for Food is an ongoing annual program of the Boy Scouts of America, which began in 1985. The program involves collecting food items for local food banks to serve those in need in our community. Last year’s Scouting for Food drive collected a record 264,000 pounds of food for Loaves & Fishes in Mecklenburg County. This is pretty astounding considering that the average first-grade Tiger Scout weighs in at around 45 pounds. This year, their goal is even higher at 275,000 pounds.

Scouting for food is a family affair and we will need all hands on deck for our largest Service Project of the year!

All scouts participating in Scouting for Food will be provided a pizza lunch after pick up is complete and prior to the Pimewood Derby Workshop held in the Eagle’s Nest.

Saturday February 1, the Mecklenburg County Council of the Boy Scouts of America will be “Scouting for Food.” Scouts will go door-to-door throughout Mecklenburg County collecting canned goods for Loaves & Fishes.
